Cups in a pint
There are 2 cups (C) in 1 pint (pt) in the US customary and imperial systems of measurement. Cups and pints are units of volume and capacity in these systems. There are numerous definitions of the cup. Even within the US, there are multiple definitions of the cup; the US customary cup (usually referred to as just "cup") and the US legal cup.
Even though their measurements with respect to units such as milliliters differ, their relationship within their respective systems of measurement remains the same; 2 cups = 1 pint.

Examples
1. Convert 3.72 cups to pints:
3.72 C ÷ 2 = 1.86 pt
2. Convert 12 pints to cups:
12 pt × 2 = 24 cups
Note that if we wanted to convert imperial pints to US cups, the relationships above cannot be used. This is because while those relationships are true within each respective system of measurement, cups and pints in each system are based on different definitions of the gallon.
